We are currently in Cortona in tuscany, having a few days of doing not very much. We are ok, except Jess has a slight cough. We will be moving on to Siena tomorrow. Wi-fi is sporadic, so better post now.

Hello from Bamberg
This looks a little like it will be a journal entry.
After taking the train this morning from Berlin we arrived in Bamberg at about 4pm. After walking to the hotel and dropping off our bags, we went on a walk around the city. Bamberg on first impressions is amazing; we walked around the old city streets, and up the sides of the valley surrounding the city, before heading back to the center to a 480 year old brewery/restaurant for a beer and schnitzel. we serendipitously ate with a group of lovely americans from south carolina. on their recommendation we went on to a another brewery nearby to try a rauchbier (smoked beer), where we shared a table with Albrecht and Horst.

We said we wouldn't but here i am
We said we wouldn't have time to post while were away, but here we are...
in transit in Kuala Lumpur, for four hours... with free internet. We walked through the Jungle Boardwalk two or three times, and around and around the terminal until we got so disorientated we decided we should probably just sit down until boarding time. Jess is now asleep on a chair and I am on watch, wondering whether to have a laksa or not. ?
Jenny: any word from the parents? I tried to call them many times before leaving with no answer.

Holiday Calendar
This is a rough sketch of our next month. There are still some gaps and question marks.
Please click on the calendar to get a closer view.
( ...and before you ask... No! we are not organising our holiday around the RWC games!)

NZ Dollar wobbles
With our upcoming trip to chermany/italy I can't help but keep an eye on the rollercoaster that is the NZ dollar.
It looks like it is on the way up again! ?
Thanks to findata.

Inspiration
In May, Zoe, one of our planners, put together this pre-wedding questionnaire:
She then sketched a proposed wedding dress pattern:
... and attire for the groom:
...and of course, you shouldn't forget the Blue Gingerbread Man!

Adventures in Chili Sauce...
I noticed that our staple bottle of Kaitaia Fire was just about empty, so yesterday I went on a mexican chili sauce search to find a replacement.
It is the difficult to find mexican things in Auckland. There aren't many mexican restaurants, and the ones there are go light on the hot sauce. Good hot sauce, Kaitaia Fire aside, is also hard to find in shops.
After a bit of a search, I found that the Mexican cafe in Ellerslie, Mexican Specialities, has an online store. There is also a shop in Dunedin, but I decided to go local.
In a rush I order four bottles; el Yucateco Green Habanero Sauce, Melindas Naga Jolokia, Melindas Hot Sauce, and Chipotle el Yucateco. Four quite different hot sauce styles. The Naga Jolokia is said to be extremely hot, while retaining a full flavour.
On closer inspection I found that I had possibly made a purchase mistake. I hadn't read the small print on the sides of the bottles, which is something I normally do religiously. The (mexican) Green Habanero sauce is riddled with preservatives and food colours. However, the (texan) Melindas sauces look far more promising.
Next time I will try the Cholula sauces which are mexican and additive free-ish. I will avoid the Zaaschila range as they are the most chemically enhanced and contain MSG.
Perhaps I should reserve judgement until I have actually tasted the sauces.
